OhGeez Organic Cotton Clothes

I’m always looking for quality kids clothes that look nice now, will look nice as hand-me-downs, and are made from organic materials.  Organic cotton is not important to me in regards to chemicals directly on the clothes themselves, but I would just rather support farmers and manufacturers that use less pesticides and fewer harmful agricultural processes.  It seems like a better way to spend my money.  OhGeez Organic is a small Colorado kids clothing company run by a mom.  All their clothes are organic cotton and they are all made in the USA.  It’s a two-fer!

The clothes are great so far and should last through at least two kids.  They are not fancy, much more play clothes style but that’s most of what we wear anyway.  My order took some time to process through, but they let me know right away and I’m willing to be flexible if the quality is high, which so far it is.

Catalog Choice - Less Garbage in the Mail

My kids love looking to see what the mailman brings every day in the mail, but it has started to get crazy with the number of catalogs we get.  Enter Catalog Choice - the site allows you to enter your name and address and which catalogs you don’t want to get and they send the request to each merchant.  I signed up in February and I have noticed that we get fewer catalogs, though checking back, there are still a lot unconfirmed removals.  It might not be perfect but its better than just getting mad and continually throwing unread catalogs in the recycling.

Vanicream Sunscreen

In response to my earlier post about finding a safe, effective sunscreen for my kids, my friend Jenny followed up with this recommendation. Zinc oxide is apparently one of the best protectors from the sun, but the key is to find a product that has zinc oxide, but also actually blends into your skin.

Here’s what Jenny has to say: I have to say, we’ve used the Vanicream a few days now and it’s great. It has no smell, blends in easily, isn’t greasy, and doesn’t appear white on the skin, despite having zinc oxide. I am not sure if it’s the best thing for faces, as it might get in the eyes if your kid gets really sweaty (not a problem yet this year). But I highly recommend it.

Thanks Jenny!
