A Better Diaper Changing Pad

Mother of Eden Changing PadEvery diaper bag comes with a changing pad but they are always large, hard to fold and not made for a real cleaning (just wipe with a sponge).  They also only ever fit in the bag they came in (and I’m never satisfied with my current diaper bag, I always need a new one!)  My friend Campbell got us two of the Mother of Eden Changing Pads and they are one of the best things in any diaper bag.  They are soft and fuzzy on one side and have the same fabric as the Fuzzi Bunz diapers on the outside (i.e. waterproof).  They are easy to wash - we just put them in with the diapers or clothes and they come out clean and soft again every time.  The best part is that they are cloth so you really can cram them into any bag, even a purse, and always have a clean, soft surface for baby to sit.  Get two and then you have one to wash and one to use at any given time!

These would make a great present for a new baby!

Sigg Bottles for Kids - Another Way to do “Sippy”

Sigg Bottles for Kids We’ve been trying to reduce plastic and trying to reduce the amount of weird things (BPA etc) that our kids are exposed to, but it’s really hard to give up the ’sippy’ cup - that great object that allows kids to drink without spilling excessively all over themselves, their clothes and the couch.  Sigg, found at reusablebags.com, makes a kid-size version of their aluminum water bottle, complete with a kid-friendly minimum spill cap and there are even handles you can buy to make it just like the regular sippy cups.  They are cute too and there are a ton of different designs.  They are not as cheap as the cups you can get at the grocery store, but we just wash the more often and try to pay attention to where they are.  When we were using the cheap ones, it was easy to just buy more instead of searching out where our existing ones were.

As a side note, I use a bigger one of these for my water bottle and I love it too.  Reusablebags.com is a great site for, you guessed it, resuable bags too!

Goodnight Gorilla - Good Baby Book, Good Gift

Goodnight Gorilla has been a favorite in our house for almost three years now.  It has withstood the transition from baby to toddler and my youngest is still quite entranced by it.  Its a very simple book with cute pictures and who doesn’t love the theme of ‘Go to sleep now’?  The neatest thing is that because its mostly pictures and the only words are basically ‘goodnight [animal]‘, my 3 year old loves to ‘read’ it to my 18 month old.

This would also make a great gift for a new baby!
