Stickers! Cheap, Fun, Made in America

Our kids love going to the toy store (who doesn’t?) but its really hard to find toys or treats that a) they can afford with their ‘own’ money; b) are not a huge commercial brand; and c) are made in America.  We really don’t want to take the wonder and excitement out of toys for kids (even though it feels like corporations are doing that to us) so we were very happy to discover Mrs. Grossman’s line of stickers are all made in America!  They are not commercial brands for the most part - just lots of fun, brightly colored dogs, princesses, vegetables, bugs, firetrucks, etc and the price is around $2 for 2 sleeves of stickers.  Its our current favorite reward for a job well done or when I can’t resist buying something at the toy store.

How Does a Dinosaur Say Goodnight?

Such an important question!  This is a cute little book that we’ve just rediscovered from underneath the couch (no comments on my housecleaning schedule please).  Basically, its a litany of questions about going to sleep that dinosaurs would never do - like fall on the top of their covers and cry.  Cute pictures with lots of little things to discover in and the rhythm of the story makes it fun to read.  My kids are too young to fully get dinosaurs, but they sure love this book!

Potty Training with Cloth Diapers

Our oldest daughter is very close to being completely potty trained (knock on wood!).  Since she has been in cloth diapers her whole life, we wanted to keep her in cloth for the training phase too.  I looked at a lot of different training pant options but wasn’t ready to spend more money.  We ended up just continuing to use our Fuzzi Bunz that we’ve had all along, but removing the liner.  The snaps make it easy for her to pull them up and down without undoing them and removing the liner gives her a little more room and the feeling of wearing regular underwear.  They’ll stop the worst of an accident or at least give us a running start.  As with everything with kids, it might not work for every kid but its worth a shot instead of buying more stuff!
