Carrying Toddlers
One of our very first posts on Butterpies was about carrying babies. Both our kids are now big enough that carrying them around the house is less frequent than it once was- for the most part, they want to walk. But when one of them isn’t feeling well, or we’re walking further than a few blocks, there are still times when carrying is the best option. These days, we’re most likely to turn to the backpack, but I also recently revisited the New Native sling that our older one loved so much as an infant.
The New Native is one of the simple, no adjustment, pouch type of slings. We have it in khaki so my husband doesn’t feel weird wearing it
Our daughter is almost 3 and we’ve found it helpful lately for carrying her when we’re out and about and she wants to be carried. It goes on quick, spreads the weight out on your back and leaves you about 3/4 hands free. As a side note, we also have Hotsling which is the same basic idea and works just as well.
Its just nice to know that the slings we bought for them as babies are still useful as they’ve grown!
