I lost my tablecloth but I gained a skirt!  :)

Okay, I know that’s a little weird, but the tablecloth wasn’t working for us.  My kids can’t sit at the table without pulling it and most of the dishes off of onto the floor, which kind of ruins the whole “make it look nice” thing.  So, I cut it up and made a skirt.

I used the technique described in Sew What! Skirts and overall, I’m pretty happy.  Its the first time that I’ve made something and when it didn’t quite come out right, I fiddled with it until I made it right.  In the past, I’ve just gotten frustrated and stuffed in the back of a closet somewhere.  So that’s an improvement.

Sew What! Skirts is a neat book. Its been out for awhile, but this is the first time I’ve made something from it.  Instead of patterns, it gives you instructions to make your own and since skirts are pretty simple, it actually works.  Now that I’ve made this skirt, I think I’m willing to invest in some new fabric to make a couple more.

Way to go!! That’s a great skirt pattern too!! (is it April Cornell?)

Thanks Linda! It was actually from the clearance rack at pottery barn. I think I paid $10 for it (which for 2.5 yards of 70″ wide 100% cotton fabric isn’t too bad.)

Great skirt! I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with your hand in the top left of the picture. Then I realized its Katie’s foot! She is a permanent appendage on your hip!
