I made this bear for Zoe awhile ago but am just getting around to posting her.  I used the Simplicity pattern 9524 – its  a very simple, very fast 2-piece pattern and Zoe picked the corduroy fabric.   Zoe loves her (talk about warming my heart!) and sleeps with her every night.  She named her Laura Mary after Laura and Mary Ingalls from the Little House books.  I know I’m biased, but really, could Zoe get any cuter?

I had originally put button eyes on her because I was intimidated by the thought of embroidering matching, well-placed eyes on her.  Unfortunately, the button eyes looked pretty funky and I had loose threads showing.  I finally got the courage up because she looked so goofy with the thready button eyes and they actually turned out alright.

I will definitely be making more of these, maybe a dog for Tommy?

How wonderful, I not only share a name with a great story character but also a bear! (And I’m talking Laura here, not Chubby!)

Well, it’s true YOU may be biased, but I certainly am not. I absolutely agree that Zoe could not get any cuter! Laura Mary is a prize that she treasures. Cheers to Zoe on the picture taking. Well done!
