The Dilemma of Responsible Buying

I need to buy spring/summer clothes for my two kids. I want to buy clothes that were made by grownups making a good wage, preferably using materials that were grown organically, or at least responsibly.  This is all doable, and fortunately the Internet makes it possible to find, but is so hard to let go of my wallet.

Clothes meeting these requirements are not cheap (logically, because it takes more to produce them).  Its just hard to buy 1 dress from Hanna Andersson that meet the super European Oko Tek standards for the same price that I can buy 2 dresses from Lands End.  Or 4 dresses from Old Navy.

The answer just may be that I need to get over it and spend the money, and that eventually I will.   Or that I need to buy less.  Both options and the latter is a good one, but I would love to know how other folks navigate this – any ideas for me?  What stores do you like to shop at?
