I finished Katie’s baby blanket yesterday and while it was advertised as an 8 hour baby blanket, it took me considerably longer than 8 hours to make. So much longer that I’m not even going to tell you how long – instead, lets focus on the end product instead! Kind of like pregnancy – forget the limited diet, the waddle and the difficulty sleeping for months on end and focus instead of the beautiful baby that’s the result! Way more fun :)
Its not the blanket’s fault that it took me a long time to knit. Its actually a very fast, straightforward pattern and I think if I ever had time to sit down for more than 2 stitches before another small mammal need a glass of water, I probably could do it in 8 hours (or close to it, I’m a slow knitter).
All my complaining aside, knitting is a great craft for me to do while I’m with the kids. Its very portable, is fun to do and I can generally keep an uncomplicated pattern memorized so its easy to pick up whenever I have a couple of minutes. And now that this one is done, I get to start browsing knitting patterns again to see what to make next!
